Rajasthan's history begins in prehistoric periods when its culture was comparable to that of the Indus Valley civilisation between 3,000 and 1,000 BC. For generations, the Rajputs, a warrior community, dominated the area. The Chauhans first gained prominence in the seventh century, and by the 12th century, they were an imperial power. 

Following the Chauhans, Mewar's Guhilots and those of neighbouring states like Marwar, Jaipur, Bundi, Kota, Bharatpur, and Alwar came to power. Several states agreed to the British Treaty of Subordinate Alliance in 1818. Following the uprising of 1857, the fight for political and civil liberty grew more intense, and between 1948 and 1956, a series of mergers and integration created the present state of Rajasthan.

The state capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur, is well known for its illustrious past, lively present, and breathtaking architecture. Jaipur, sometimes referred to as the ‘Pink City’ because of its buildings' vivid hues, is a popular tourist destination that has attractions like the Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, and City Palace. Rajasthan is encircled by Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat and shares a western border with Pakistan. The fertile plains in the east and the Thar desert in the west are examples of its varied terrain. The state's agricultural potential is further enhanced by the presence of various rivers, including as the Chambal and the Banas.

Economy Of Rajasthan

Rajasthan's economy is broad, with major contributions from manufacturing, tourism, and agriculture. Major crops grown on the 219.46 lakh hectares of cultivable land are rice, barley, jowar, millet, maize, and wheat. With notable reserves of zinc, emerald, granite, gypsum, and silver ore, the state is rich in minerals. 

Electronics, food processing, textiles, and technical items are important businesses. With millions of tourists visiting places like the Thar Desert, Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur each year, tourism is a significant economic engine as well.

After formation of new 17 districts in the state, there are 50 districts in Rajasthan and each has distinct geographical and cultural characteristics. Ajmer, Bikaner, Udaipur, Jodhpur, and Jaipur are among of the major districts. These districts are essential to the administrative and economic structure of the state.
